Australian mobile phone carrier Telstra has just announced the upcoming availability of a new device on its airwaves, their very first 3D-capable smartphone, none other than the already popular HTC EVO 3D. The new handset will arrive on shelves at the wireless carrier starting with September 20th, but it has already got its own page on the carrier's website.

The new smartphone comes with a price tag of $912 attached to it if purchased contract free, and was added to the carrier's $59 FreedomConnect plan (on a 24-month deal) for $23 per month (Min. Total Cost: $1968).

The HTC EVO 3D comes to the market with a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display on the front (540 x 960 pixels resolution), offering users the possibility to enjoy 3D videos and games while on the go without the need of special glasses.

Moreover, the new handset packs 5-megapixel dual-cameras on the back, which offer it the ability to shoot photos and videos in 3D.

The mobile phone is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core application processor and packs 1GB of RAM, along with 1GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The handset will connect to the Telstra Next G network to offer fast access to social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, and to enable users view or upload high-quality video to YouTube at ease.

EVO 3D owners will also be able to enjoy the clarity of HD voice calls automatically at no extra cost when chatting to other people with HD voice compatible handsets on the Next G network in Australia,” the wireless carrier announced.

“HD Voice is the mobile equivalent of switching from standard to high definition TV and delivers crisper, clearer calls making it easier to chat with mates – even when they’re in crowded or noisy environments.”

At the same time, users will benefit from access to 3D content, including Need For Speed Shift (Full 3D game), The SIMs 3 (Full 3D game), or the Green Hornet 3D movie pre-installed on the first 3,500 EVO 3Ds from Telstra.

The new mobile phone runs under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and features the HTC Sense 3.0 user interface loaded on top of it.
