Faster and more improved than ever before

Telstra, already well known for its other rural specific phones that make the most of its own network system, has developed a device specifically for those working or living in areas where most other networks do not have coverage. Nothing new so far, but what's really surprising is that this new device, called the Country Phone, comes with specs never before seen on any of its kind.

It’s likely that such advanced mobile content hasn't reached country folks before, and now they have the change to enjoy applications, such as the BigPond TV, 33 channels on Mobile Foxtel, Sensis Search services, plus all the latest news, including sports and the very useful, especially in the countryside, weather forecasts. Such a development gives the feeling that some of the until now city-restricted technology has been brought to overlooked, but eager parts of the world.

The Telstra officials are clearly very excited about the new release, thus issuing several statements, some of which we will use now to further detail this phone's features. Geoff Booth, Telstra Country Wide's Group Managing Director, painted an overall view of the new release for us, making sure not to forget any detail about this device.

"The new and improved Country Phone offers faster data download speeds, video calling and access to a range of BigPond mobile music and photo services. It's also simple to email, synchronize applications with your PC and browse the internet. [...] Like its predecessor, the new Country Phone offers excellent coverage as it is Blue Tick rated, meaning it is recommended for handheld use in regional and rural Australia." Booth explained.

"The new County Phone's rugged design and pull out antenna that maximizes handheld coverage will ensure it will be a big hit in the bush. When combined with a compatible car kit and directly coupled external antenna, it offers customers unmatched coverage performance in more places across Australia. The new and improved Country Phone still offers the features customers want such as heat and dust resistance, but is now more compact, comes with an improved screen - making it easier to use when working outdoors, and is AGPS enabled." he further added.

Mr. Ross Fielding, product manager and executive director for Telstra, also made a statement, consolidating the good impression the 165i had already left with the public. "The Country Phone includes a 2 megapixel camera, Telstra Mobile Code reader, FM radio, integrated MP3 player, MP3 and polyphonic ringtones, up to 50MB of internal storage, and is equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology." Fielding said.

The 165i Country Phone will be available only on Telstra's network and exclusively through Telstra shops, for about $529, or for $30 per month on a 1-year contract. Also, given all the new capabilities, it is expected to reach and exceed its predecessor in sales and in appreciation.
