Good news for Telegram users who are taking advantage of the instant messaging service on their Android devices, as developers have just released a major update that bumps the application to version 1.5.0.

The new update brings lots of important new features and tons of bug fixes and improvements. In addition, Telegram developers have announced that their application now features Portuguese (Portugal, Brazil) translations.

Among the most important new features included in this update, there is the ability to select and send multiple photos simultaneously. There’s no limit to the number of photos you can select and send at once, and you can also preview them.

The application has also received new and improved notifications, along with a brand new photo viewer (swipe up/down to close, double tap to zoom). Users who own devices powered by Android 3.0 and up will be able to take advantage of the new swipe navigation.

As mentioned earlier, lots of under the hood improvements and bug fixes have been included in the update as well, but no additional details have been provided on these.

You can now download Telegram for Android 1.5.0 for free via Google Play Store. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 2.2 and up.
