The new messenger is set to take on its rival on Windows Phone platform

Last week, Telegram Messenger, a Russian startup set to take on its rival in the industry by offering reliable and secure instant messaging services, chose Ngram application as the official Telegram client for Windows Phone devices.

Telegram Messenger is only available on Android and iOS platforms and apparently, developers did not intend to bring their application on the Windows Phone operating system.

However, it looks like the recent pulling of the WhatsApp application from the Windows Phone Store determined Telegram owners to choose another application as their unofficial client.

So, instead of developing their own application, Telegram developers have chosen Ngram as the official Telegram client, in order to increase their user database while WhatsApp Messenger is unavailable for Windows Phone users.

WhatsApp has been affected by notifications and battery drainage issues for several weeks now, but developers did not find the time to fix these problems.

Due to the negative feedback received, WhatsApp has been pulled from Windows Phone Store and Microsoft has confirmed that it is now working with the application’s engineers to fix all the issues reported by users.

Unfortunately, there’s no telling when exactly WhatsApp will be back in Windows Phone Store, so those who are unable to download the application may want to look for alternatives.

The new Telegram Messenger is still in beta, but is supposed to offer a more than decent alternative to WhatsApp for Windows Phone. The old Ngram application has been recently renamed to Telegram Messenger Beta and, according to the developer, remains “an unofficial Telegram client with a focus on speed and security. It’s superfast, simple and free.”

This means that Telegram Messenger developers may eventually launch an official client for Windows Phone platform, or maybe they are waiting for the application to get out of the beta in order to make it official.

The main reason that a WhatsApp user may want to switch to Telegram Messenger is the fact that it offers maximum security, cloud storage, group chat and sharing, and it’s free.

Telegram Messenger Beta is free of charge and will remain so until it gets discontinued. Keep in mind that the application is not add supported either.

According to developers, “security flaws in popular apps like WhatsApp have gotten a lot of bad press recently, so we made it our mission to provide the best security on the market.”

So the main security feature offered by Telegram is called Secret Chats and benefits from end-to-end encryption in order to make sure that a message can only be read by its intended recipient.

It’s also worth mentioning that Telegram does not log anything on their servers when Secret Chats is enabled. This means that users can automatically program the messages to self-destruct from both devices so there is never any record of it.

Another advantage of Telegram over other messenger clients is the fact that it’s very fast and reliable. Telegram has servers placed all over the world and uses a decentralized infrastructure to ensure that users are always connected to the closest server.

Telegram also offers free unlimited cloud storage for messages and media that can be accessed from multiple devices. More importantly, the application works even on the weakest mobile connections, as messages are delivered in the minimum bytes possible.

Windows Phone fans can now download Telegram Messenger Beta for free via Windows Phone Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 7.5 and up (including 8.1).
