Telefonica and Ericsson have just announced a new agreement that will provide Brazilian subscribers living in the city of Sao Paulo with new and improved fixed network services.

Furthermore, this is more of an expansion of the collaboration between the two companies that worked together in the past to offer customers new and top-of-the-line network services.

Telefonica Brazil and Ericsson entered into an agreement in 2008 to offer the carrier field maintenance of its fiber network in Sao Paulo state.

Under the new agreement, Ericsson will provide a range of field operations services, supervising and maintaining Telefonica's fixed network.

Although the services will only cover Telefonica's subscribers within the select areas in Sao Paulo city, including Campo Limpo, Campo Belo, Jabaquara, Consolacao and Ipiranga, it is expected that the two telecom giants will expand the service to additional cities in the near future.

According to Ericsson, all managed services mentioned in the new agreement will be provided in a multi-vendor environment

Broadening our managed services partnership further with Telefonica is an important step to Ericsson. This contract also contributes to Ericsson's leadership in managed services in Latin America and globally,” said Sergio Quiroga, head of Ericsson in Latin America and Caribeean.

Telefonica Brazil has already been working with Ericsson's methods and tools for managed services.

One of the giants of the telecom industry, Ericsson has one of the most comprehensive managed services offering.

Ericsson's portfolio of services ranges from designing, building, operating and managing day-to-day operations of a customer's network, including end-user services and business support systems, to hosting service-layer solutions and providing network coverage and capacity on demand.

In addition, the company's offering comprises mobile and fixed network infrastructure, telecom services, software, broadband and multimedia solutions for operators, enterprises and the media industry.
