Although TeleNav has updated its GPS application for Android devices at the beginning of the year, only a select number of smartphones were compatible with the new version of the software.

However, this is about to change as the company has announced that T-Mobile customers who own one of the compatible Android smartphones will be able to update to the latest 6.2 version, as well.

TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 for T-Mobile Android customers adds Multi-Routes and Quick Search.

With the Multi-Routes, users will receive three route suggestions that will be displayed as an overlay on a map, with route distance and estimated time arrivals, as soon as they enter an address.

In addition, T-Mobile customers will also be able to choose the route they believe is best for them, based on the information displayed.

The second new feature added with TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 is called Quick Search and simply makes finding local places of interest easier and faster for T-Mobile customers.

Other interesting features of the application include:

- clear spoken turn-by-turn directions from real people, not robots; - traffic guided routing helps you avoid traffic jams; - automatic re-routing takes you to your destination if you ever miss a turn or take a detour; - find cheap gas prices nearby – updated daily; - avoid speeding tickets with speed trap alerts.

TeleNav GPS Navigator 6.2 for T-Mobile customers is now available as a free download from Android Market and is compatible with Samsung Vibrant, LG Optimus T, Motorola Defy, Motorola Cliq XT and T-Mobile Comet devices.

Furthermore, the developer is also offering a premium version of the application for a $2.99 per month fee, which includes expanded speech recognition, lane assist and traffic alerts.

On related news, this is same application that comes bundled with the HTC Sensation and cannot be removed, thus it runs in the background depleting the battery faster.
