Worldwide leading provider of digital maps and dynamic content for navigation and location-based solutions Tele Atlas announced today that its maps would be used by GeoLife Limited, a satellite navigation software and location-based services provider. Moreover, the company also said that the agreement between it and GeoLife Limited was aimed at the navigation application the latter delivers for iPhone and iPod touch users in the UK.

The Navmii app from Geolife will use Tele Atlas maps to deliver routes to users, while also providing them with route previews, as well as with turn-by-turn directions and rerouting in case they missed a turn. What the solution is capable of delivering to users includes detailed, accurate maps and location information, so that they are always aware of the best route and they know where petrol stations, cash points, shops, or restaurants are located. Moreover, the app will also provide estimated time of arrival and distance to destination, while also warning the drivers at times when they exceed the speed limit.

“Navmii is a content and feature rich application for iPhone and iPod touch users and we are excited to deliver the application to navigation users and gift-givers. Fresh maps and content from Tele Atlas help us to deliver a powerful foundation for Navmii and ensure we are offering an up-to-date solution for our customers,” said Peter Atalla, CEO of Navmii. Tele Atlas Director of Consumer Markets Simon Glassman added: “GeoLife is delivering a valuable solution for consumers. We’re delighted to be selected for this application and look forward to supporting GeoLife as the application expands to new regions in the future.”

The Navmii navigation application from GeoLife Limited is available for purchase via the Apple iTunes store for £19.99. Moreover, the company also announced that it planned on releasing an application for iPhone users in the US, and that it should arrive in December, while also being based on the Tele Atlas maps.
