Deal expected to close in September

Tektronix Communications has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Arbor Networks, one of the leading provider of DDoS protection and mitigation solutions. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed, but the acquisition is expected to be finalized in September.

Arbor Networks is a provider of security and network management solutions based in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. The company's primary products, the Arbor Peakflow DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) prevention system and the eSeries platforms for broadband service optimization, are used by around seventy percent of the world's ISPs.

Arbor are also the founders and maintainers of ATLAS, a real-time threat data sharing service, which sees the participation of over 100 Internet service providers. The system compiles statistics about top attacks types, attack origins, attacked services, botnet traffic, phishing and other such metrics.

Tektronix Communications is a company based in Plano, Texas, which provides network diagnostics and management solutions for a variety of network types. The company's products supports many architectures including LTE, fixed mobile convergence, IMS, broadband wireless access, WiMAX, VoIP and triple play, including IPTV.
