14 DAY TRIAL // Katsuhiro Harada, who is the creator of the Tekken franchise, has asked the large fan base of the fighting game to be skeptical of reports that a new movie based on it is in development, after rumors about it surfaced during the Cannes film festival.
The Tekken development leader has not outright denied the existence of the new project but asked fans to not “jump the gun,” which probably means that there are some ideas about a new Tekken movie but nothing concrete has yet been decided.
The first Tekken movie was almost universally seen as a failure and even Harada said that it was terrible but such a successful video game franchise will almost always seek to expand its audience by moving to different mediums.
At the moment Tekken fighters are set to be part of the Tekken x Street Fighter video game that Namco Bandai is working on and will probably launch in 2013.
