Tekken 7 was revealed to the world a few hours ago through a special teaser trailer and now publisher Bandai Namco has offered some more details about the game's use of the new Unreal Engine 4 technology and how Epic Games' Japan studio is helping development.

Tekken 7 was one of the many surprise announcements made at the EVO fighting game eSports tournament in Las Vegas over the weekend.

The new fighting title made by Bandai Namco was presented to fans at the show and around the world via a special teaser trailer revealing some cinematic footage from the upcoming title.

The video featured some story info about the plot of the next game, confirming that it will culminate with an epic brawl between Kazuya and Heihachi, but didn't offer any more details. At the end of the trailer, however, the logo for the Unreal Engine 4 was displayed, confirming that the fighting experience is going to make use of Epic Games' new technology to power the game.

Now, a few more details have appeared about the actual partnership between Epic and Bandai Namco and how Unreal Engine 4 can help take the Tekken series even further in terms of gameplay and visual quality.

"The power and flexibility means that we can focus our efforts on making Tekken 7 the best possible game without worrying about spending time creating a stand-alone graphic engine," Katsuhiro Harada, Tekken series executive producer and game director at Bandai Namco, said.

In his statement, Harada also mentions next-gen platforms, meaning it's possible that Tekken 7 will appear on the PS4 and Xbox One, as well as on other devices.

"With Unreal Engine 4, we could rapidly achieve visual quality expected on next-gen platforms and go beyond it. Not only is Unreal Engine 4 powerful and easy to use, but it allows us to immediately bring Tekken 7 to any platform we desire."

Bandai Namco also revealed that its Tekken team, led by Harada, is working in partnership with Epic Games' Japan studio in order to ensure that the Unreal Engine 4 is going to work as intended in Tekken 7 and that it will look great.

"The Tekken franchise is beloved and we couldn’t be more excited to be working with the talented team at Bandai Namco," said Taka Kawasaki, studio head at Epic Games Japan. "This marriage is perfect - the most powerful engine in gaming along with one of the most enduring brands in fighting games. We have no doubt that these forces coming together will yield fantastic results."

Bandai Namco promised that more details about Tekken 7 would be shared with fans during the 2014 San Diego Comic Con, as a panel marking the 20th anniversary will be organized during the event.
