While Namco Bandai is apparently keen on ending the tradition of unlockable characters for fighting games, there's a wide videogame tradition that it aims to respect, that of the limited edition. The company has announced that it plans to offer not one but two different limited editions of its fighting game Tekken 6, which is set to arrive on October 27.

The publisher is making sure that potential players have quite a few choices when it comes to Tekken 6, whether they plan to get it on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft or for the PlayStation 3 from Sony. The Arcade Stick Edition and the Collector’s Edition should be released at the same time as the regular edition of the game.

The Arcade Stick Edition of Tekken 6 is set to offer an experience pretty similar to that players can get in arcade cabinets in Japan, where the Namco Bandai title is wildly popular. It will get the player a customized wireless arcade fighting stick, a copy of the game and an art book that is over 100-page long and chronicles its making. The fighting stick is made by Hori and the design for the two home consoles is pretty different.

The Tekken 6 Collector’s Edition is set to include even more goodies for the fans. Of course, they would get a copy of the game, the same 100-page art book but also an exclusive poster and a sweatshirt created by the same team that designed the game. It would have been nice if Namco Bandai had included the Hori fighting stick in this limited edition, but that would have probably pushed the price too high.

Tekken 6 should offer 40 playable characters, the biggest roster in the history of the series, and Namco Bandai is hoping for an impact similar to that of Capcom's Street Fighter IV.
