Gamers searching for a new universal headset that would allow them to play their favorite titles either on PC or consoles now have a new option to consider as CompuExpert has just uncovered the aggressively priced TekNmotion Yapster Blaster amplified headset.
The latest version of this
gaming headset is powered by the XJacKer Soniq Rush amplification technology which, in the case of the Yapster, consists of a high-gain amplifier.
This draws its power from an
USB slot and can also be detached from the headset if the user wants it.
When this is removed, the Yapster relies on the standard pair of 3.5mm jacks (one for the mic and one for the headphones) making it compatible with a wide range of audio devices.
As far as sound quality is concerned, TekNmotion has decided to build its latest creation around a pair of full-range 40mm Neodymium drivers fitted inside circumaural ("over-the-ear") ear cups.
The high-sensitivity microphone is placed at the end of a multi-articulated metal mic boom.
The rest of the specifications list includes a in-line remote with volume and microphone mute controls, 20Hz to 20,000Hz response range and compatibility with various VoIP applications.
The TekNmotion Yapster Blaster is compatible (through supplied adapters) with Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS, PSP (PlayStation Portable), and OnLive consoles as well as with desktop and notebook PCs.
"Your friends will all think you've dropped serious coin on this headset, when really you're an ace bargain shopper who can recognize amazing quality at an outstanding price," said Ammar Adra, president of CompuExpert.
The TekNmotion Yapster Blaster
amplified headset is available right now from online retailers such as Amazon and is priced at $29.99 US. This makes it one of the cheapest universal headsets available right now to gamers.
