Today, NVIDIA announced the release of the Tegra Zone app for Android devices, enabling users of mobile phones and tablets packing an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor to easily find games suitable for their devices.

The new mobile application is already available for download via the Android Market, the company announced, adding that it was meant to be a one-stop destination for consumers looking for the richest games for their devices.

The new application was made available for download for free, and will offer a selection of Tegra processor-optimized games, along with game reviews, high-res screenshots, HD video trailers, and more.

These games would be available for download and purchase via the Google Android Market, the company continues.

The games that the Tegra Zone app will bring to the spotlight are specifically designed to fit the Tegra 2-powered handsets.

Some of the most representative titles would include Dungeon Defenders: First Wave Deluxe HD, the first Android game build using the Unreal Engine 3, as well as Samurai II: Vengeance, and Galaxy on Fire 2 THD.

Other such games would include: Backbreaker THD, by Natural Motion; Fruit Ninja THD, by Halfbrick Studios; Vendetta Online, by Guild Software; Monster Madness, by SouthPeak Games; or Hardwood Solitaire IV, by Silver Creek Entertainment.

“Introduced over the past several months in a variety of super phones and tablets, the Tegra 2 super chip is finding a growing market, particularly among those interested in console-quality gaming on their mobile device,” Nvidia explains.

“It is built with the world's first mobile dual-core CPU - which unleashes the best Web experience, with up two-times faster browsing and support for full Adobe Flash Player hardware GPU acceleration, plus unprecedented multitasking capabilities.

“It also includes an NVIDIA GeForce GPU - which provides stunningly rich visual experiences and console-quality gaming,” the chip maker concludes.

The company also announced that it partnered with game developers for enhancing the titles available for the Tegra 2 super chip with a series of appealing features, including increased realism and interactivity, as well as extra challenges, improved game play, and an enhanced shopping experience.
