While Intel has just announced its plans for the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, other companies are still keeping their plans under a veil of mystery. However, the Internet has become a source for rumors and leaked details on unannounced products, which is also the case with an upcoming Tegra-based 'smartpad', a device that features a 10.1-inch display and takes advantage of the performance capabilities of NVIDIA's powerful SoC.

According to this article on Slashgear, the said 'smartpad' is designed by Notion Ink and will feature the NVIDIA Tegra T20 chipset, which means that it will support 1080p Full HD video playback, integrated WiFi, Bluetooth and UMTS/HSDPA. In addition, the same source suggests that the Notion Ink will be the first device to use the Pixel Qi transflective display.

Additional specifications of the devices include A-GPS, a digital compass, accelerometer and proximity, ambient light and water sensors. The 10-inch devices includes USB, HDMI, 3.5 headphone jack and microphone input, a 3MP autofocus camera with video recording, onboard 16GB or 32GB SSD and even an SD slot for additional storage. The smartpad measures 6.3 x 9.8 x 0.6 inches and weighs 1.7lbs according to available details and will feature a 10.1-inch 1024 x 600 pixels and will use an Android UI, which will provide full gesture support.

The Tegra-powered device is bound to make an appearance at CES, where similar devices are also expected to be announced. We should further note that one of the most interesting features of Notion Ink is its touted battery life, which is said to be good for up to 48 hours standby, 8 hours of HD video playback and 16 hours of Internet surfing via WiFi. Apparently this has been made possible by the integration of NVIDIA's Tegra chipset, which features an 8-core design. Unfortunately, we have no details on the device's pricing, at this time.
