Brand vendors may have placed orders, but they weren't that many

The Tegra 4 system-on-chip platform failed to reach the heights of shipments that Tegra 3 did, probably because Tegra 3-based tablets still work fine, keeping up with software.

There's also the fact that those who bought a tablet last year and in 2011 aren't likely to upgrade to Tegra, regardless of the benefits. It's just too soon to discard a tablet that way.

Thus, while HP, Toshiba, ASUS and other OEMs have ordered SoCs and sold them as part of their tablets, more success is expected when Tegra 4i with integrated 4G LTE comes out.

At least that's what Digitimes has just reported.

NVIDIA's Tegra 4 would have probably done a lot better if the price were lower.

HP's upcoming SlateBook x2, scheduled for August release, might encourage sales a bit more (1080p 10-inch display, 2 GB RAM, microSD card slot, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB on-board storage). It won't make much of a difference on its own, however.
