Mobile phone maker Motorola is reportedly preparing the release of at least two new high-end smartphones that would run under Google's Android operating system, designed for the airwaves of the two largest wireless carriers in the United States, namely AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

We already knew that Motorola was preparing a new mobile phone for AT&T, and that this device would sport the name of Olympus, and the move has been confirmed again, it appears.

A recent article on BGR suggests that this Tegra 2-based mobile phone should land on shelves with a different name sometime in January.

Moreover, they cite an unnamed source claiming that the new device would be very very fast, while sporting a beautiful screen.

However, it appears that this is not the only Tegra 2 smartphone that Motorola is working on, and that Verizon Wireless would also enjoy such a device.

Set to be released on shelves at Big Red sometime in February or March, this mobile phone sports the codename of Etna.

What's even more interesting is that the smartphone should pack full support for the carrier's new LTE network.

Unfortunately, no other specific details on these devices are available at the moment, though we do have a series of previous rumors on the Olympus to look at.

Sporting the model number MB860, this device should run under Google's Android 2.2.1 operating system on board, though it might receive an update to a newer OS flavor in the not too far future.

Moreover, it should sport Motorola's specific user interface on top of that Android platform, as well as a large touchscreen display.

We've already seen some alleged photos with the device leaked into the wild, but an official announcement still hasn't emerged.

Hopefully, the rumors on both mobile phones would pan out in the end, and Motorola would soon announce these new, highly appealing smartphones for the US market, so keep an eye on this space for additional info.
