It appears that well-known companies are not even close to being the only makers of slates, as a certain Woow Digital has now revealed a slate of its own, one based on the most recent hardware-software combination.

It appears that the tablet market, though it will probably truly skyrocket only two months from now, at CES 2011, is already setting itself up quite steadily.

With the rising popularity of the Tegra 2 SoC from NVIDIA, and the new Android operating system for tablets, one need only wait until there is a suitably large collection of devices to choose form (or just buy the one of those already out).

Granted, in addition to the ARM architecture, Pine Trail slates running Windows also exist, and the Intel Oak Trail platform should debut soon as well.

Still, that time has not yet come, which means that companies wishing to deliver their tablets sooner rather than later have to make do with what they have on hand.

As it happens, the Gingebread version of Android just came out, and a certain Woow Digital has now previewed its own tablet.

Dubbed The One, it operates on the aforementioned Tegra 2 system-on-chip and has 1 GB of RAM to back it up.

There is also a solid amount of built-in flash storage, 16 GB to be exact, while the entirety of the hardware lies inside a frame of about 10 inches in diagonal. The screen itself has a native resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels.

Furthermore, the list of connectivity and I/O options includes WiFi, Bluetooth and WCDMA 3G.

As for the actual software, the Android Gingebread should be able to make the best of all the product's resources.

Availability is slated for before Christmas, at least in Japan, while Hong Kong, Taiwan and Europe will also receive it later on. The price is set at ¥42,000, which is the equivalent of $504.
