Even though many makers of slates have decided to switch to the Android OS, Tegatech decided to bring out its TEGA v2 Windows 7 slate, even promising to deliver it by next week, when shipments will be possible in several regions.

As some end-users may know, Tablet PCs have been selling long before media slates, like the iPad, even surfaced.

Now, however, makers of mobile PCs are quite eager to join this slate phenomenon, so Tegatech decided to make its own incursion with the TEGA v2.

Essentially, this device is a 10-inch tablet that has a display size of 10.1 inches and measures 243 (L) x 190 (W) x 14 (H) mm while weighing about 800 grams.

As one would expect, since this is a Windows 7 Slate, the platform of choice was the Pine Trail, represented by the Intel Atom CPU.

In this case, the central processing unit used was the Atom N455, whose clock frequency is of 1.66 GHz.

This CPU is backed up by 1 GB of RAM and the GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) 3150 Integrated graphics.

The configuration also features a solid state drive with an internal storage space of 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB.

There is also a SD/SDHC card reader and the full range of connectivity and I/O options that such a mobile device is expected to possess.

The list includes Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 a/b WiFi, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, a webcam, a G-Sensor and optional 3G, WiMAX and Wibro.

Set to start selling next week, the TEGA v2 will be headed to Europe, Australia,New Zealand and North America.

Unfortunately, the exact price for which it will be sold had not exactly been specified by the official announcement.

Until it does get revealed, those interested in a first-hand view of all information on Tegatech's device may go here.
