Though still unavailable, a new tablet PC loaded with Windows 7 is about to officially enter the slate market, namely the TEGA v2, a mobile electronic built around the well-known Intel Pine Trail platform and armed with a 10-inch capacitive touchscreen.

Regardless of what software the various slate developers prefer in terms of tablet operating systems, there is still a healthy number of companies eager to get a Windows 7 slate on the market.

Tegatech Australia s one of these companies and has, reportedly, just about finished putting the final touches on the TEGA v2.

Basically, this is a tablet that is built around the now infamous Intel pine Trail platform, the same one that has shown up in the majority of netbooks as well.

In the case of TEGA v2, the central processing unit used is the Atom N455, whose clock frequency is of 1.66 GHz.

This CPU handles computing tasks, while the GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) 3150 integrated graphics sees to the display and multimedia side.

What's more, the device has 1GB of RAM and a solid state drive whose capacity can be of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB, depending on user preference.

Other specifications include a webcam of 0.3 or 1.3 megapixels, an SD/SDHC card reader, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11 a/b WiFi, and optional 3G, Wibro and WiMAX.

Finally, all of these parts are crammed inside a casing measuring 243 (L) x 190 (W) x 14 (H) mm and are kept running by a battery that lasts for up to roughly 5 hours on a single charge.

Unfortunately, the maker of the 800 gram-weighing TEGA v2 did not disclose any pricing details, but shipments should start in September.

Meanwhile, consumers can wonder about what the slate will be able to accomplish once it gets 4GB of RAM, if it is indeed as possible as the report suggests.
