Photos show the teenagers splashing around and diving in their home-made pool

Temperatures in the city of Oryol in Russia hit an impressive 34 degrees Celsius (93.2 degrees Fahrenheit) a couple of days ago, and some folks found it extremely difficult to cope with the intense heat.

While some settled for turning on their air conditioning units or reaching for another glass of ice cold water, a group of teenagers decided to kick things up a notch and built themselves a pool smack in the middle of their living room.

Come to think about it, saying that these teenagers built a pool in their living room is a bit erroneous. What they actually did was turn the living room into a swimming pool using nothing but plastic sheeting and – what else – water.

As noticeable in the photo next to this article and the ones in the gallery below, the young boys, whose identity has not yet been revealed, used plastic sheeting to cover the carpet, the furniture, and part of the room's walls. They then filled the lounge with water.

It is unclear whether the flat whose living room was subjected to this extreme makeover belonged to any of the boys featured in the photos. Now that the photos have gone viral, one can only hope this was not the case.

Otherwise, chances are one really lucky fellow will get to have one very long and possibly unpleasant conversation with their parents. Then again, even if the flat was rented, someone will still have some explaining to do.

According to Daily Mail, people who got to see photos of this home-made and rather rudimentary swimming pool had mixed reactions to it. Some were quick to congratulate the teenagers for their ingenuity and creativity, and admitted to considering following in their footsteps.

Others, on the other hand, pointed out that turning one's living room into a swimming pool was nothing short of a dumb idea, partly because getting rid of all the water once the splashing session was over was bound to prove difficult, but also because having water this close to electrical wiring was not safe.

“The water is about half a meter high, which means it is about half a ton for every square meter. I wonder if their neighbors will gather altogether to give them a good lesson?” somebody commented on the teenager's little DIY project.

“I hope the electric plugs are way above the water level,” another Internaut said. “I hope they cut their nails really well before going inside. What if they break the film?” somebody else commented on the risks of using plastic sheeting to build a home-made pool.

At the risk of disappointing you, we regret to inform you that, for the time being, it is still unclear how the boys got all the water out of the swimming pool, provided that they eventually got around to doing this and aren't still splashing around in it.
