A British boy managed to prove that you can, in fact, kill a cat by microwaving it

A 19-year-old man from Thetford, Norfolk, in the UK, killed his cat by sticking it into the microwave oven, believing the animal had started talking to him.

Jamie Blake, having been in what seems like a paranoid and delusional state of mind, believed the cat was talking about his mother having a heroin addiction.

Blake was living in a shelter at John Room's House at the time, and had taken in the stray cat to keep him company. On September 27, he shoved it into the microwave after reportedly having argued with it, the Daily Mail informs.

He had named the cat Buddy, and was taking care of it, feeding it fish and tuna. After the incident, he bragged about what he had done to the animal to other boys at John Room's, but initially nobody believed him.

“He was laughing about this to other residents, saying he had put it in the microwave for three minutes, killing it and appeared to be quite jovial about the situation,” one attendant stated.

After the incident was investigated, CCTV footage showed him picking up the cat and taking it to his room, which he exited a short while after. He then disposed of the oven, trashing it in a bin the following day. Supervisors at the shelter retrieved the microwave oven, as well as Buddy's remains.

Witnesses testified to his drug problems, as well as mental health issues. The boy believed the cat was telling him that his mother was being injected with heroin by an ex-partner, now deceased.

Blake is being tried for his actions, and is already serving jail time for an earlier, suspended sentence for theft. A judge at Bury St. Edmund's Magistrates' Court ruled to reactivate the sentence after the incident. Jamie Blake will face sentencing for his cruel act against animals on October 30.
