A 15-year-old girl used pastry to do one of the most difficult things in her life – come out to her parents.

She baked a cake and wrote “I'm gay” on it in icing. Laurel also left an explanatory note next to the cake, joking about how she wished telling her parents would be “a piece of cake.”

“I hope you still love me. I mean, it's hard not to love someone who baked you a cake,” she wrote.

Apparently, her parents took it lightly and told her they loved her either way.

“My dad saw the cake and came into my room and hugged me and laughed. He said he loved me and the cake and the letter and everything was perfect,” Laurel posted on Tumblr, after uploading this picture.
