14 DAY TRIAL // Of all the awards ceremonies out there, the annual Teen Choice Awards are perhaps the most illustrative of the taste of an entire generation. That generation has spoken last night, naming the best of the best in music, film and television this past year.
Below is the complete list of winners.
The ceremony was held at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California, with former Disney star now turned X Factor judge Demi Lovato as host.
It was a night full of surprises, including the first live performance from No Doubt in no less than 11 years, and of touching moments, when stars took to the stage to take home their surfboard “statuette.”
Since this was an awards show aimed at and voted by teens, most of the celebrities in attendance made music, films and TV shows targeting that age group.
As such, it should probably come as no surprise that the guys from “The Twilight Saga” won big, as also did “The Hunger Games,” the latest teen-oriented franchise.
In music, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber cleaned up the awards, with the former taking home 5 surfboards (out of 5 nominations), while Justin an impressive 4.
“Twilight,” the vampire film franchise than ends this November with “Breaking Dawn Part 2,” won Ultimate Choice Award and Choice Movie Romance, plus awards for the actors.
Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were all on hand to accept the awards – which makes sense, since they're already promoting “Breaking Dawn Part 2” – but they skipped the red carpet entirely, perhaps in a bid to avoid a new round of rumors about Kristen and Robert's alleged real-life romance.
The Hemsworth brothers, Chris and Liam, also scooped up awards, but neither was present at the ceremony.
Rihanna, Emma Stone, Zac Efron and Charlize Theron were also among the absentee winners of the night.
