Teen Choice Awards 2011: The Winners

By on August 8th, 2011 07:35 GMT

Last night, at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City in California, teens got to see their biggest idols take to the stage to be awarded for the work done in the past year, be it in movies, music or television. It was the Teen Choice Awards 2011.

Celebrities put on their hippiest outfits and brought the extra cool factor on the red carpet for the ceremony, in a bid to impress the press and the fans at home who had voted for them.

Also on the red carpet, stars from the different areas of showbiz mingled, in what turned out to be a wonderful opportunity to check the pulse of the audience, to see which were teens’ favorites.

As it turns out, Taylor Swift was the big winner of the night, as the complete list of winners below will also show.

She took home the award for Ultimate Choice, as well as five other surfboard awards for her music. At the opposite end was “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” which was the most nominated movie but lost out to “The Tourist” and “Harry Potter.”

The festivities saw Robert Pattinson, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Johnny Depp (among many others), acknowledged for their work, with most of the stars being on hand to receive the surfboard award.

“Harry Potter,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “The Vampire Diaries” also won big.

Aside from movies, music, television and sports, the Teen Choice Awards also include an “Other” category, which honors celebrities who stand out from the crowd in other activities popular with the fans.

For instance, Robert Pattinson won Choice Vampire, while Justin Bieber was recognized for his “work” on Twitter, where he makes sure he keeps his millions of fans and followers up to speed with almost everything he does on a regular basis.

Also here, we find Ellen DeGeneres as winner of Choice Comedian, and the (in)famous Rebecca Black as Choice Web Star.
