14 DAY TRIAL // It was bound to happen: the couple that has been holding headlines for weeks now is confirming they’re doing a reality show. Courtney Stodden, 16, and Doug Hutchison, 51, dropped the news during an interview with an Australian morning show.
When word first got out that the 51-year-old actor married a wannabe singer and aspiring model who could have easily been his daughter (in fact, her own mother is only a few weeks older than he is), many assumed it was a hoax.
Later on, word began to transpire in the tabloids that the marriage was a sham, a PR stunt to launch Courtney’s music career, perhaps by means of a new reality show.
While all of the above are still to be determined, it’s been confirmed that Courtney and Doug will be getting their own reality series, as the video below will confirm.
After speaking a bit about their unconventional and controversial marriage, and what they first noticed in each other, the two directly address rumors of a reality show.
They’ve been “seduced by a lot of producers,” they say, and are now working with an extraordinary production team on their own show.
“It’s going to be a reality show like no other. Out of this world,” Courtney chimes in. She doesn’t say more – and the interviewers don’t ask for more details – but this should be enough to put rumors to rest, because a reality series is definitely happening.
The two also talk about how Courtney’s mother kept an eye on their relationship from the get-go and they even find a moment to share a laugh about how she (the mother) is actually only slightly older than the husband.
“51 + 16 = Love... in our world,” Doug says. He also insists they have a “wonderful family” and are blessed to have found love, even if it’s this unconventional.
As for his bride’s equally controversial public persona, he sees nothing wrong with it.
“Courtney embodies the classic iconic figures of the past. The Marilyn Monroes. The Sharon Tates. The Pamela Andersons,” he says.
