Matthew Calicchio, 17, has pleaded not guilty to the computer trespass charge brought against him. He is suspected of illegally downloading information from the computer systems of the Sachem school district in Long Island, New York.

According to the Long Island Press, Calicchio has been released on bail. The next court hearing is scheduled for December 9.

Sachem representatives say they’ve performed several checks and they’re confident that their systems have not been hacked from the outside. However, the records of thousands of students were somehow illegally downloaded and posted online between July and November 2013.

Authorities believe that Calicchio, who has recently enrolled as a student at Sachem North High School, is responsible. He was arrested and charged last week. He pleaded not guilty on Saturday.
