Less than two weeks after going to rehab for drugs and alcohol addiction, Ted Williams, the former homeless man who shot to fame as “Golden Voice,” has bailed and is now out, it has emerged.

TMZ is the first to break the news of Williams’ short-lived rehab stint; it was also the outlet to first report that Williams would be seeking help for the problems that had re-appeared once he became famous.

“Ted Williams – the homeless man with the ‘Golden Voice’ – has left rehab against medical advice, less than two weeks after checking in for drug and alcohol dependency, TMZ has learned,” the e-zine writes.

“Our sources say Ted – who decided to go to rehab earlier this month after a taping of the Dr. Phil show – left the Origins Recovery Center in South Texas moments ago and is on his way to the airport,” TMZ reports.

“Ted’s girlfriend is currently in rehab at the Safe Harbor facility in Costa Mesa, California,” adds the same media outlet.

When he was discovered by the side of the road, Williams was very open about what had made his life go downhill, making of him homeless: he said he did drugs and drank until he no longer knew anything of himself.

At the same time, he also insisted he’d been clean for years. Earlier this month, word got out that his problems had re-surfaced as he had to deal with increased pressure from the industry, and he got into an altercation with his daughter.

Police were called to Williams’ hotel room and both him and his daughter were taken to police headquarters, but no charges were formulated against either of them.

Hours after the arrest, Williams’ daughter was telling the media that her father had been drinking heavily in the past two weeks, an allegation he promptly denied.

Nevertheless, shortly after this interview aired, Ted was on his way to rehab, with Dr. Phil confirming he’d decided to get help for his drinking and substance abuse.
