Less than two weeks after going to rehab for drugs and alcohol addiction, Ted Williams, the former homeless man who shot to fame as “Golden Voice,” has bailed and is now out, it has emerged.

TMZ is the first to break the news of Williams’ short-lived rehab stint; it was also the outlet to first report that Williams would be seeking help for the problems that had re-appeared once he became famous.

“Ted Williams – the homeless man with the ‘Golden Voice’ – has left rehab against medical advice, less than two weeks after checking in for drug and alcohol dependency, TMZ has learned,” the e-zine writes.

“Our sources say Ted – who decided to go to rehab earlier this month after a taping of the Dr. Phil show – left the Origins Recovery Center in South Texas moments ago and is on his way to the airport,” TMZ reports.

“Ted’s girlfriend is currently in rehab at the Safe Harbor facility in Costa Mesa, California,” adds the same media outlet.

When he was discovered by the side of the road, Williams was very open about what had made his life go downhill, making of him homeless: he said he did drugs and drank until he no longer knew anything of himself.

At the same time, he also insisted he’d been clean for years. Earlier this month, word got out that his problems had re-surfaced as he had to deal with increased pressure from the industry, and he got into an altercation with his daughter.

Police were called to Williams’ hotel room and both him and his daughter were taken to police headquarters, but no charges were formulated against either of them.

Hours after the arrest, Williams’ daughter was telling the media that her father had been drinking heavily in the past two weeks, an allegation he promptly denied.

Nevertheless, shortly after this interview aired, Ted was on his way to rehab, with Dr. Phil confirming he’d decided to get help for his drinking and substance abuse.

It is obvious his urge to use (alcohol/drugs) is more overpowering than his recovery.
BUT, being an addictions nurse, why did ORIGINS and DR. PHIL allow his phone usage, the media, internet access, etc. Your first week or two in rehab. basically is not outside communication. So, I blame the rehab. center and Dr. Phil for allowing this to go on. Ratings and advertisement for this rehab. center is NOT a part of recovery. I wish Ted well but it is rather obvious he is not going to make it at this point in time.

News Flash for Ted Williams: REPENT!!! IMO, Ted Williams lied on God, and God will not be mocked. God is a forgiving and loving God, who wishes that no man should perish.

Ted Williams CAN NOT blame God nor any other person for his own behavior or actions.

Ted you must accept responsibility for your own behavior and actions, such as we all must do.

People, please STOP making excuses for people like Ted Williams or anywho use drugs and alcohol because it enables a person to continue in his or her drug usage.

As a recovering alcoholic myself, I know the challenges that come with rehab and changing one's life around. Only he can make the changes; sadly, he has chosen not to do so at this point. It is sad to see someone handed chances of recovery on a silver platter, only to have it rejected. As a person with 27 years of recovery, I hope he changes his mind, bites the bullet, and chooses sobriety. Only he can make that choice, despite all the help in the world.
