Comedies like “The Hangover” franchise and Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted” have shown Hollywood where the money is for this genre: in R-rated productions. A sequel for “Ted” will be out in theaters in the summer of 2015.

As Slash Film notes, writer / director MacFarlane, who also voices the foul-mouthed teddy bear who has been blessed with life as a Christmas wish and no longer stands to be parted with his human now, was hoping for an April 2015 release but, because of production issues, it has been pushed back.

“Ted 2” will be out on June 26, 2015, which isn’t necessary a good date because the summer schedule is already packed: meaning, Ted and Mark Wahlberg will have to go up against some of Hollywood’s biggest productions.

April would have been better from this perspective, because few tentpole movies are being released then.

Then again, perhaps everyone involved in the project, including the studio distributing it, has faith in it and believes it can still make a killing despite the invasion of superheroes at the box office. After all, if “The Hangover” did it, why couldn’t “Ted”?
