It was only a few days ago we reported that, following Tomonobu Itagaki's departure from Tecmo, all the 300 employees filed a lawsuit against
the company. Well, Tecmo has released two quick press statements denying the "rumors" (which were actually presented as facts): according to the company, it was indeed sued by two employees, even though, on the 1st of April 2008, Tecmo announced that all its employees would be compensated for the unpaid extra time.

It's a kind of "we say - they say" thing and we'll probably know exactly what the real deal is whenever we get the chance to see the lawsuit filling. However, that might never happen since Tecmo plans to pay the people for their work.

Here is Tecmo's official statement on the matter:

"On June 16, 2008, two employees filed a lawsuit against Tecmo with accusations of withholding overtime pay. Although a lawsuit was filed by the two employees, on April 1, 2008, Tecmo did notify all affected employees that they would be appropriately compensated and is currently in the process of resolving the matter. There are several inaccurate reports stating that all 300 company employees are named in the lawsuit and the company would like to clarify that only two employees are involved in the suit."

The company also claims that these "unfortunate and inaccurate false reports" have caused unrest among the developers and went on to reassure its partners and fans that it would "continue to focus and work on several projects to be released and announced in the future".

Also, in a second press release, Tecmo tries to give us something more interesting than trying to figure out what the "real" truth is: it says that it has "exciting announcements regarding game launches planned for the future," but nothing more. Is the company trying to hide something or is it really affected by false accusations and now trying to restore things? We'll study the matter closely and keep you informed.
