Teclast announced once of the first Bay Trail-T Android tablets

As anticipated yesterday, Teclast has held a press event during which it presented to the world its economical Intel Bay Trail tablet running on the Android platform.

The newly launched family of devices is dubbed Teclast X, while the particular flagship model, has been baptized Teclast X98 3G (via Edward Weinert).

Even if this was a presentation event, there are still a lot of unknown details about the new tablet. It appears the 9.7-inch slate will come equipped with a Retina display (2048 x 1536 pixels) and will run a version of Android (we don’t know so far which one, but KitKat might be a viable option).

It will draw power from an Intel Bay Trail-T chip (as opposed to the Atom Z2580 Clover Trail bundled into the previous generation).

Teclast hasn't said which Bay Trail chip we’re going to see arrive with the tablet, but most likely it’s going to be a 64-bit Atom Z3740D clocked at 1.83GHz. The device will be fitted with 2GB DDR3L of RAM and 32GB of internal memory eMMC (with read speeds up to 150MB/s).

There’s also an 802.11 Wi-Fi module, WiDi, Bluetooth, GPS and 3G modem. The lofty 8500 mAh battery should keep the slate alive for up to 8 hours.

The launch date has been scheduled for April, at least in the Asian market, but we’re pretty sure we’re going to see the slate arrive in Europe and US too.

The pricing is quite decent set at $210 / €152, but we expected less. Probably, the presence of the Retina Display screen has bumped up the pricing a bit.

And that’s not all. Teclast also launched three more tablet models with Bay Trail-T, Wi-Fi, 3G and Retina/HD displays, but so far we don’t know their exact names.

However, the Chinese company said we’re going to see a 10-inch Full HD model (1920 x 1200 pixels), one 7-inch full HD (1920 x 1200 pixels) and a 7.9-inch Retina version (2048 x 1536 pixels).

Teclast’s existing tablet series will be updated with older but still decent Clover Trail Atom Z2680 processors and this is what we will see.

- Teclast P89 mini: 7.9-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) - Teclast P90: 8.9-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) and 2GB of RAM - Teclast P19HD: 10.1-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) and 2GB of RAM - Teclast P79HD: 7-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) - Teclast P79HD 3G: 7-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) with 3G modem

In the upcoming months, we also expect to see Ramos, Onda and Cube to also launch Bay Trail tablets running on the Android platform.
