This year, Intel introduced several new members to the Atom chip family, including the relatively powerful Atom x7 chip, the mid-range Atom x5, and the Atom x3 for low-cost smartphones, tablets and such.

While we have seen Atom x7 and Atom x5 juice up tablets like the Microsoft Surface 3 (which sells for $499 / €443), Atom x3 products have been absent from the market.

But not anymore, as one of the first 7-inch tablets taking advantage of the low-cost architecture has been launched. The device is called Teclast X70 3G and will sell in China for just $50 / €44. You can also get it in the US for a little bit more, meaning $70 / €62.

For this amount of money, customers will get a 7-inch IPS display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and an Intel Atom x3-C313 based on the architecture codenamed SoFIA. The silicone is a dual-core affair with Mali MP2 graphics and integrated support for 3G.

Teclast also throws in a meager 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage, but at this price, what else can you expect. The rest of the specification list includes a 2MP/0.3MP camera combo, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microSD card slot, microUSB port and dual SIM cards.

The device runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
