Techpowerup has released yet another version of the famous and quite useful lightweight utility designed to give you all the information about your video card and GPU known as GPU-Z. The new 0.2.6 version of GPU-Z brings adjustments to the tool and also features an extended list of hardware detection updates.

Version 0.2.6 of the GPU-Z utility brings to users full support for the next-to-come ATI HD 4870 X2 and Nvidia 9800GT and 9300GE graphics cards. Some fixes have also been included in the package, such as more accurate clock information for R700 on newer ATI drivers, as well as a real-time clock sensor for RV770 GDDR5 memory.

This version of GPU-Z comes with other few usual fixes, as well as new features. The utility can now start minimized and it also shows a tray icon when minimized. Support for Inte'l G43, G45 and other variants of G35, G965 and GM965 IGP chipsets has also been included in the update.

Features of the utility include support for NVIDIA, ATI and Intel's cards from now on. The tool displays information on adapter, GPU and display, as well as over clock, default clocks and 3D clocks info, if they are available. The results showed by GPU-Z can be validated on the website. The GPU-Z graphics processor utility does not require installation and can be used under Windows 2000, Windows XP and Vista, with support for both 32 and 64 bit versions.

The GPU-Z also allows users to connect to Techpowerup's forums to view posts regarding specific issues treated under test builds. Also, users can send bug reports to the developers, which would help improving future releases. Beta variants of the software are available for testing, and the results will be published on the same forums.
