The ending being suggested by the first teaser to the final series of the HBO series “Boardwalk Empire” isn’t very optimistic. The images being shown in the half-of-minute clip depict Steve Buscemi, who plays the role of Nucky Thompson, as the last man standing in the intricate web of the gangster underworld.

The taglines introduced in the clip among images of coffins and closing doors are “All empires fall” and “No one goes quietly.” Meanwhile, the video is titled “One is the Loneliest,” and it begins with Steve Buscemi walking alone.

He can be heard saying in the voiceover that “tricksters stay alive long enough to cash out.” Steven Graham’s Al Capone character also makes an appearance in the video, hinting at the impeding outcome which doesn’t seem to be favorable for the gangsters.

Not long ago, it was revealed that the final season of the crime period drama was going to jump forward into the future seven years, from the Prohibition to the Depression, as it aimed to conclude the intertwining mobster stories.

HBO announced that it would be wrapping up filming on “Boardwalk Empire” this year, despite the show’s constant high ratings, probably to make room in its schedule and budget for bigger projects such as the world-famous “Game of Thrones” that has since become an international phenomenon.

The fifth and final season of “Boardwalk Empire” is set to premiere this September, but HBO hasn’t yet made official the exact date.
