TeamViewer reached another major version packed with new features and support for the latest operating system from Microsoft, Windows 8.1. It is currently available for Windows, Mac, Linux and mobile devices.

Version 9 of the application brings to the table tabbed remote sessions, support for Wake-on-LAN, stronger security of the TeamViewer account, API integration, and extended overall functionality.

The current revision offers the possibility to open connections in different tabs for a better overview of the remote activity; visual notification is available to alert about action on the remote computer.

Unauthorized access to the TeamViewer account is now more difficult to gain thanks to the implementation of two-factor authentication. An OTP (one-time PIN) sent to your phone is now required to log in just in case the password is compromised.

Additional functionality has been embedded in this revision of TeamViewer as it is now capable of copying and pasting files and text (preserves formatting) between computers. Also new is initiating file transfers to computers and contacts without first establishing a connection.

Companies can save custom modules such as QuickSupport, QuickJoin, or Host with their own branding and provide them to the customers through an individual link.

Furthermore, the developer touts faster video transfers for presentations or viewing YouTube movies on remote machines.

The interface also received some improvements for Computers and Contacts to allow easy working from touch-friendly devices; when controlled via touch screen, the buttons convert automatically for a better experience.
