Team Group, as always, is working on some new flash-based storage solution or another, so it is not so surprising to hear that it has brought forth some new flash drives, dubbed the SR1 and SR3 series, respectively.

As always, new NAND Flash-based storage solutions are being developed all the time, especially now that Flash chips have become cheaper than ever.

Granted, spot prices haven't been falling like they have for DRAM, but the transition to more advanced manufacturing processes definitely helps.

That said, even solid state drives are believed to be more or less close to reaching mainstream prices, or will get really affordable by 2012.

Team Group itself released such storage units not long ago, although, this time, it looks to other consumers and applications.

More specifically, Team Group released two new series of flash drive units, or at least revealed them, since Computex is when they should really be launched.

By the names of SR1 and SR3, they have a design inspired from sports cars, with a red enclosure that “is perfect for showcasing personal zest for sports and making a statement of masculine vitality and energy.”

The SR1 uses the USB 3.0 interface, so it has the ability to transfer data at speeds of up to 50 MB/s when reading and 30 MB/s when writing, making it easy to copy and store even multi-gigabyte files, like Full HD videos.

Meanwhile, the SR3 sticks to the USB 2.0 connection (read/write speeds go as high as 30 MB/s and 15 MB/s) and, thus, should turn out to be more appealing to the mainstream market, especially with how its smallest storage option is 4 GB (the maximum is 32 GB).

By contrast, the SR1 is also limited to 32 GB tops, but the lowest-capacity drive is the one with 8 GB (16 GB is the other possible capacity).
