Team Fortress 2, the online multiplayer game developed by Valve, has received a major patch, which includes some GUI updates and lots of balancing changes.

Team Fortress 2 has been made available on the Linux platform for some time now and the developers have released lots of patches for the game already. The title receives constant balancing changes and Valve is trying to make sure that the game stays fresh.

It's hard to imagine that Team Fortress 2, a game released back in 2007, is still so popular. In fact, it is one of the most played titles on Steam, and the Linux community is already an integral part of the entire Team Fortress world.

According to the developer, the Backpack UI has been improved with the addition of page buttons for all pages, by removing prev/next buttons, and by updating the drag/drop behavior to interact with the page buttons.

A lot of other features were also made available in this new Team Fortress 2 update. For example, strange quality items can now be placed on the Steam Community Market, a "Show Untradable Items" checkbox has been added to the recipe interface, a smoke effect has been implemented for The Soldier's Stogie, the InfoShow 2014 community event medal has been added, and Crate #82 and Crate #83 can now be found in the drop list.

Also, the crate drop rates have been significantly lowered, the Virtual Reality mode has been improved, the Gunboats have been updated so that they can be used in the Medieval mode, the Chemistry Sets have been updated, a client crash related to a killstreak effect has been fixed, and hats are now always dropping into the world when players are killed.

Team Fortress 2 features a large number of multiplayer modes, such as Capture the Flag, Control Point, Payload, Arena, King of the Hill, and more. Players can choose one of the nine classes: Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Medic, Sniper, and Spy.

It's funny that Valve, the developers of Team Fortress 2 and Steam, have forgot to update the entry for the Linux hardware requirements, but they can't be too far from the Windows ones: a 1.7 GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8 or higher, ATI X1600 or higher, or Intel HD 3000 or higher, and of course a stable and working Internet connection.
