Valve has announced that its popular team-based multiplayer shooter Team Fortress 2 will be getting custom, player-made taunts soon.

The game is a free-to-play multiplayer shooter where players can choose from out of nine distinct classes, each coming with its own distinct play style and array of combat abilities.

The game is also constantly updated with new game modes, new maps, interesting equipment, and a variety of hats, courtesy of a very active modding community.

In addition to this, the shooting part is also particularly fun and balanced, making it one of the best free-to-play experiences available on PC.

The developer decided that the best way to announce the new feature is by showing that, many times, soldiers' passions get ignored during times of war, as can easily be seen when the sniper in the video below grabs a sax in order to spice up his killing spree.

You can use the Source Filmmaker in order to create a custom taunt, and then submit it for community approval through the usual channels.

The best custom taunts will get added to the in-game store

Steam users will vote for their favorite items, as per the current Steam Workshop curation process, with the best ones getting a chance to be added into the game and sold for actual money, which turned out a pretty lucrative source of extra income for some.

For the time being, three user-made taunts have been added, which you can see in the video below. You can trigger the character-specific animations during games to show off or to irritate people.

Valve has mentioned that they have been blown away by the quality of the items submitted by the community so far, and that they are looking forward to seeing more such creations improve the game even further.

The goofy animations are certainly well received, and it should prove to be very satisfying to take out an opponent while he's busy breakdancing.
