Team CompLexity are the big winners of the Call of Duty Championship that was held over the weekend, managing to defeat all finalists and secure the 400,000 dollars (305,000 Euro) grand prize that Major League Gaming and Microsoft offered.

Team CompLexity is made up of: Patrick “Aches” Price, Tyler “TeePee” Polchow, Damon “Karma” Barlow and Ian “Crimsix” Porter.

Their opponents in the final round were EnVyUs and before they reached this stage of the competition, a report also says that they had taken out TCM Gaming, XFinity, FaZe and OpTic.

According to the community, the full list of finalists for the 2014 Call of Duty Championship on Xbox One is made up of:

1st: CompLexity 2nd: EnVyUs 3rd: OpTic Gaming 4th: Strictly Business 5th: Trident T1dotters 6th: FaZe 7th: Rise Nation 8th: VexX Revenge

All the teams have received a monetary prize for their participation in the event, which was watched both in person and via streaming by a larger number of fans of the Call of Duty series and the first-person shooter genre.

The Call of Duty Championship has been arguably one of the biggest eSports events of the year so far because it included the biggest teams in the world and a solid prize purse for the winners.

Those who have missed the live action can log into the official Major League Gaming site in order to see the most important moments from matches, selected by the organizers.

Microsoft aims to increase the profile of the Xbox One next-gen console by getting as many big competitions to use it as the main platform and the recent Championship was also a sign of the close relation between the company and Call of Duty publisher Activision.

A new title in the franchise is expected to be launched in the fall of this year, created by the team at Sledgehammer Games, and the studio has promised that it will deliver an experience that takes the best elements from the past and innovates when it comes to some core features.

The new title will not be linked to the Ghosts, the Modern Warfare or the Black Ops continuities, but no details have yet been offered on the story.

Call of Duty is the most important first-person shooter on the market at the moment and each new installment tends to generate sales records for the industry, but Activision is eager to inject some new ideas into the series in order to keep it relevant.
