The team behind the Tekken series of fighting video games is now working on a brand new virtual reality video game for Sony's upcoming Project Morpheus headset, titled Summer Lesson.

The video game puts players in the bedroom of a schoolgirl, and they are free to interact and socialize with her. For the time being, the developers have provided no details on the nature of the interaction, other than the fact that players will be able to employ a basic gesture system, communicating with the girl by nodding or shaking their heads.

Sony Computer Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Andrew House said a while back that Sony had already invested significantly in the development of Project Morpheus, and that it was committed to supporting virtual reality experiences on the PlayStation 4 in the future.

The virtual reality headset was revealed at Game Developers Conference in March this year, and stirred a few waves. However, Project Morpheus was featured much less than expected during E3 in June, leading to the conclusion that the gadget is in need of much more work before Sony can get behind it with actual software products.

Furthermore, back in April, Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida also mentioned that virtual reality technology was just in its infancy and that the experiments that Sony and Oculus VR (the makers of the similar Oculus Rift headset) were making were of great benefit to the technology.

"We are still really trying to define or discover what works and what's required for the hardware tech. Our team feels that we're getting closer, but there are certain things that still have to be improved to make a good consumer product. The Oculus guys are saying the same thing. Even their DK2 [development kit 2] is pretty good, but still, they see some other areas they still have to work on," Yoshida stated.

The video below showcases the yet limited interaction options in the upcoming video game, showing several players following the schoolgirl around and nodding in order to provide feedback to her actions.

The creators of the Tekken series of fighting games are apparently taking a break from all the action, as Summer Lesson puts users in a typical Japanese schoolgirl's room, where they can chill out and hang around.

Summer Lesson is scheduled to hold a playable demo at this year's edition of the Tokyo Game Show from September 18, where more information on the upcoming Project Morpheus title will be revealed.
