As shocking as this may sound, it appears that, earlier this year, a teacher employed at a school in Washington, US, asked an 8-year-old boy to unclog a toilet with this bare hands. The 3rd grader complied but told his parents about it when he got home after classes.

The incident is understood to have occurred at Scootney Springs Elementary in the city of Othello in Washington, US, in November. However, it is just now making headlines, after the boy's parents complained about how the teacher only got away with a reprimand.

How it all played out

The boy's parents say that, this past November 16, their 8-year-old son was just minding his own business in school when he chanced to notice that one of the toilets at Scootney Springs Elementary was clogged. Looking to help, he informed teacher Brent Taylor.

Rather than calling a plumber or taking care of solving the problem himself, the man, who has been working as a teacher for about 23 years now, had the 3rd grader unclog the toilet. In a nutshell, he made the boy put his hands inside the toilet without at least offering him a pair of gloves.

On the somewhat bright side, if we may be so bold as to phrase it this way, it appears that what was clogging the toilet was several strands of paper. Otherwise put, at least the boy was lucky enough not to find anything nasty when he put his hands in the toilet.

Having returned home from school, the boy told his parents about the incident. “He said, ‘Everything was good, but my teacher made me put my hand inside the toilet.’ We were like, ‘What?!’” Artie and Lisa Adams recollect this most bizarre conversation with their son.

When confronted, the teacher admitted to making the 3rd grader unclog the toilet with his bare hands. The thing is that, contrary to what Artie and Lisa Adams expected, he didn't show any signs of remorse. In fact, he simply said, “It's nothing I haven't done before.”

How the teacher was disciplined for his actions

Opposing Views tells us that, rather than being fired, Brent Taylor somehow got away with just a warning and with having the incident marked on his permanent record. True, he was also made to take a safety course on hygiene, but it's doubtful that he learned anything from it.

The 8-year-old boy's parents are shocked that, despite abusing their son in this manner, Brent Taylor is still allowed to teach. More so given the fact that, by the looks of it, this wasn't the first time that he behaved inappropriately towards students.

Thus, word has it that this teacher has so far landed himself two other reprimands for being a bit too touchy with two female students. Hence, it's safe to assume that he isn't fit to be around kids. “If he did it to our child, how many other kids has he done that to?” Artie Adams cannot help but ask.

For the time being, Brent Taylor hasn't made any public comments on this incident. In case anyone was wondering, Artie and Lisa Adams' son is no longer a student at Scootney Springs Elementary.
