Taylor Swift will not allow haters have their way by using her name without her permission. The increasingly famous songstress apparently decided to take matters into her own hands by buying the TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult.

Given that starting June 1, everyone is entitled to register a .porn or a .sucks website, it should come as no surprise that Taylor Swift decided to take this step in order to avoid the effects that any kind of such negative publicity stunts done by trolls could have on her career.

Why is everyone hurrying to buy these domains?

Not surprisingly, Taylor Swift is not the only one who resorted to this type of method, as Microsoft is also among those who felt that the domains were endangering their image, according to the announcement made to CNN by the CEO of ICM Registry, Stuart Lawley.

It is a smart move from the two to buy these domains, given that the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers allowed public figures and companies to purchase the domains ahead of time.

However, the luxury of buying these domains might not be available for regular people, the only advantage that they are entitled to is that they can know what to expect from these websites in case their names ever become associated to them.

One of the reasons behind the adding of these domains is the idea that parents will be able to have a better control over what their children do online, by knowing exactly what content needs to be blocked.

However, given that a large number of domains have appeared and that an even larger number are expected to pop up, celebrities might want to stay alert at all times.

For instance, one other domain which both Taylor Swift and Microsoft have missed is .sucks, an equally unflattering one, if used in association with their names.

According to the .sucks website, it “is designed to help consumers find their voices and allow companies to find the value in criticism.” This may be why Taylor Swift has not bought this one yet, she is expecting some constructive criticism from her peers.
