Taylor Swift and Johnny Depp Are Favorite Celebrities of 2009

As 2009 draws to an end, tradition says we must have charts and lists of what was hot and what not this year. A while ago, PopEater started an online poll to determine fans’ favorite male and female celebrities – and Taylor Swift and Johnny Depp came out winning with an overwhelming majority.

“The results are in. After asking you who you thought your favorite celebs of the year were, Taylor Swift and Johnny Depp take the crown. Over 62K voted for favorite female of 2009, and Swift beat out the second-place Jennifer Aniston, with 34 percent of the vote to Aniston’s 24 percent. Beyonce came in third with 13 percent,” PopEater says.

This definitely marks a very successful year for the young country singer, as nominations and awards come pouring in to acknowledge both her achievements in music and pop culture in general. From nods for the upcoming Grammys to People magazine naming her one of the most influential people of 2009, it’s safe to say Swift’s musical achievements have not gone unnoticed. With the PopEater “crown,” Taylor also gets the people vote for being such a sweetheart and, above all, a down-to-earth and talented singer, users say.

As for men, the winner was named Johnny Depp, an actor who, if ongoing reports are accurate, just got promoted to one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood, with a contract for “Pirates of the Caribbean 4” for no less than $38 million. Named recently by Entertainment Weekly the entertainer of the decade for his dedication to his art and not compromising himself just to make a buck and have success at the box-office, Depp wins now the people vote as well.

“On the men’s side, Depp earned 29 percent of over 58K votes. George Clooney followed him closely with 24 percent and Matt Damon rounded out the top three with 15%,” PopEater says.
