Now here’s a lovely surprise! Taylor Swift is coming out with a ‘80s pop-inspired album, aptly called “1989.” Not only that, but she already has a leading single and an accompanying music video out for it.

Taylor introduced “Shake It Off,” the first single off the new album, during a live event streaming on Yahoo. The video premiered shortly afterwards, and you will find it embedded in full and in HD below. It’s catchier than anything she’s put out before.

The video sees Taylor trying her hand at a variety of dance styles, including the now famous twerking, but also ballet and contemporary. Let’s just say that she’s better off with singing.

As for the message of the song, it’s crystal clear: haters will hate no matter what, and the best way to deal with negativity is to just “shake it off.”

“The idea that I've had to learn a pretty tough lesson in the last couple of years: people can say what they want about us, at any time... and we cannot control that,” Taylor explained. “The only thing we can control is our reaction to it. I figure we have two options: we can let it change you... option two, is you just shake it off.”

She’s going with number 2.

Because the release of the song and video but also the album announcement was a surprise, “Shake It Off” already has over 2 million hits on the official YouTube channel. If Beyonce has taught us anything with her previous album, that’s that the element of surprise is the perfect ace up the sleeve.
