Singer makes singing monologue very funny

Country singer Taylor Swift has proved that she can be hysterically funny, with her recent appearance on Saturday Night Live. Celebrities hosting SNL is not uncommon, but, as fans must know, their gigs are rarely rated over average. Not the same applies to Swift, who managed to include in her opening monologue references to the personal details that have made headlines in the tabloids in recent months.

Among them are rumors of dating “Twilight” hottie Taylor Lautner, who plays werewolf Jacob Black, talk that she might still feel some resentment towards Kanye West for rudely interrupting her at this year’s Video Music Awards ceremony, and her much-mediated breakup from Joe Jonas, which reportedly took place through a phone message, as he did not have the courage to own up to her. In including all this, Taylor officially raised the bar on SNL hosting duties, fans believe.

“You might think I’d bring up Joe [Jonas], that guy who broke up with me on the phone, but I’m not gonna mention him in my monologue. Hey Joe, I’m doing real well. Tonight, I’m hosting SNL but I’m not gonna brag about that in my monologue. La la la. Ha ha ha. La la la. And if you’re wondering if I might be dating the werewolf from Twilight. Hey Taylor [Lautner]! [blows kiss, winks] But I’m not gonna comment on that in my monologue,” Taylor says in her monologue.

As for the Kanye West incident, there’s really no ill feeling for him. Plus, security has got everything covered now, the singer says, which means that, even if the rapper wanted to interrupt her again, it can’t possibly happen once more. “You might be expecting me to say something bad about Kanye [West] and how he ran up on stage and ruined my VMA monologue. But there’s nothing more to say cuz everything’s okay. I’ve got security lining the stage. It’s my SNL monologue,” Swift says.

Kate Gosselin also came under fire with Taylor in one of her sketches, in which she had on a wig that looked like Kate’s so-called “possum hair.” “A patriotic fireworks display” is what Swift called the infamous hairdo from behind.
