Katy Perry has landed one of the most coveted gigs in the music industry: she will perform at the next edition of the Super Bowl, during the halftime, following in the steps of performers of recent years like Beyonce, Madonna, and Bruno Mars.

While her fans must surely be happy for her, there’s one female peer of Katy’s who’s anything but – and that person is Taylor Swift, according to a new report in Radar Online.

The two have been feuding in secret for some time over some sketchy moves Katy allegedly made to “steal” some of Taylor’s backup dancers from her right in the middle of her tour. By the looks of it, it’s not over yet.

The link: concert tour director and production designer Baz Halpin

According to an insider, the only thing that Katy and Taylor have in common these days, even though they used to be pretty close a short while ago, is Baz Halpin, a concert tour director and production designer.

He did Taylor’s RED and Speak Now tours, but he also worked with Katy on California Dreamz and the Prism tours. As per the unnamed source, Katy would like it if he could also work with her on her Super Bowl Halftime performance.

For some reason the insider fails to mention or explain, Taylor feels so proprietary about Baz that she actually presented him with an ultimatum: work with Katy and you shall never work with me again, which has put him in a very uncomfortable position, as he really wants to do the Super Bowl because it would be a “career highlight.”

At this point, the source says, Baz is inclining to taking up Katy on her offer, even if that means getting on Taylor’s bad side for the rest of his life.

The same insider claims that Katy found Taylor’s ultimatum “quite amusing,” which probably means she for one has exactly zero intentions of changing her plans just because Taylor doesn’t approve.

What started the feud?

In a recent interview to promote her brand new album, “1989,” Taylor revealed that one of the songs on it, “Bad Blood,” wasn’t about a boy, but about a girl whom she had previously considered her friend. What the girl did to be unfriended in real life was that she tried to “sabotage” (Taylor’s word) her entire arena tour by hiring people from under her.

From what she said, it sounded like Taylor was convinced that this woman, who had claimed to be a friend, went behind her back and hired some people who were essential to her ongoing tour.

When the media found out that several backup dancers left Taylor’s employment to go work for Katy, precisely when Taylor was on tour, the conclusion became obvious: this former friend was no other than Katy Perry.

As you can imagine, rumors about the two have been making the rounds like crazy since.
