She promised she’d never tell who she writes her songs about – and here is the exception

Some time ago, when Taylor Swift was getting a lot of questions about her music and which of her songs were inspired by her failed romances, she promised she’d never tell. As it turns out, “never” can be a relative term as well.

Taylor has just admitted that “I Knew You Were Trouble” was inspired by her relationship with One Direction’s Harry Styles.

Speaking of her 2013 Brit Awards performance, which Harry also watched from the audience, Taylor explained that it’s no challenge to get into the mood of the song when the very ex it was written for is right there.

“Well, it’s not hard to access that emotion when the person the song is directed at is standing by the side of the stage watching,” she said, as cited by the Daily Mail.

She might not have namedropped Harry but, clearly, he was the only ex present at the awards show, so that makes this a no-brainer.

Celebrity pundits note that Taylor must have written the song after she dated Harry the first time.
