One of the actors to keep an eye out for right now is Canadian Taylor Kitsch, who will be seen next on the big screen in the sci-fi “John Carter.” He's also featured in the latest issue of Men's Health UK.

The actor, who will get his chance to see if he's blockbuster leading man material this weekend, talked to the magazine about the most stupid thing he's done so far for his career and how he's not the one to back down from hard work.

As it turns out, the 30-year-old star is actually a certified nutritionist, which is probably something that only his loyal fans knew until now.

With this in mind, one can understand why he says that losing 35 pounds (15.8 kg) for a role in a 2010 movie in just two months was the most absurd thing he ever did for his job.

“I lost 35lb in two months. That was [expletive]-ing stupid and there’s not a lot of actors who will do that. It’s just way too extreme, and being a nutritionist I found it hard,” Taylor says of his role as war photographer Kevin Carter in “The Bang Bang Club.”

The weight loss affected him in various other ways. It helped him get into character but it also wreaked havoc on his mood.

“Everything I knew just went out the window. The way I worked, it changed my walk, my confidence, everything. I was very bipolar,” he recalls.

“My mood swings were [expletive]-ing insane. I was very emotional, I had night terrors, I couldn’t sleep. It was a zoo,” the actor says.

However, even if shedding the weight so quickly and in such an unhealthy fashion went against his principles, Taylor knew he had a job to do – and he never wants anyone to be able to say that he could have done better.

“If you put half your energy into something, you’re only going to get that back at the end of the day. But I’m like, 'What if I put in [expletive]-ing everything without any other variable?' That’s what I was like for John Carter. I was like, 'OK Kitsch, let’s see what you can do.' Just give it everything,” he says.

As we also informed you back in early 2009, when he was promoting his role as Gambit in “Wolverine,” Taylor also loves boxing, which is his favorite method to stay in excellent shape.
