Taye Diggs Single-Handedly Thwarts Home Invasion

Actor catches burglar in the act, chases him down and restrains him

You might appreciate Taye Diggs for his acting chops or his incredible good looks, but you should probably know that he’s also a bit of a crime fighter as well. The star has managed to single-handedly thwart a home robbery, it has emerged.

Over the weekend, Taye was in attendance at the SAG Awards 2013, taking place live at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

When he got home, he had the most unpleasant surprise, that of finding a burglar in the process of ransacking his home, E! News has learned.

“Taye Diggs arrived home at about 11:00 p.m., only to come face-to-face with a 20-year-old man who had allegedly broken into his residence,” the celebrity publication writes.

He did not panic though, and neither did he scare off easily. Instead, the actor called out to the suspect and then chased him down.

“The Private Practice star then proceeded to chase the suspect, Hassan Juma, after he fled on foot and actually detained the guy until police arrived, a spokeswoman for LAPD Media Relations confirms to E! News,” says the aforementioned media outlet.

“Juma was subsequently arrested and booked for felony burglary. His bail was set at $50,000 [€37,199]. According to the LAPD, no one was injured in the incident and Juma is currently still in custody,” E! further adds.

Diggs isn’t the only celebrity to make headlines in recent months for showing such courage when put in a potentially dangerous situation.

LL Cool J, for instance, also caught a burglar in his home and detained him until police arrived on the scene.

The guys who thought they could rob Dolph Lundgren though did not wait for the police to arrive: back in 2009, three men broke into his home and started going through his things to get to the most valuable items.

The moment they saw a picture of the actor on a wall, they realized the kind of danger they would be in if they were caught by the physically impressive star, so they made a run for it.
