LucasArts seems keen on rekindling players’ interest in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a game originally released last fall. The company has announced that it will be delivering a new downloadable content pack for the title while also putting out a fresh edition, called The Ultimate Sith Edition.

The DLC content is set to come via both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network at some point during the fall. It will be offering gamers and fans of Star Wars a new level, set on Tatooine spinning off into a storyline called “Infinities.”

Presumably, the gameplay mechanics will be unchanged, with the Apprentice able to use all his Force powers to choke, push and pull enemies while finishing them off with his reverse grip lightsaber. The twist resides in the fact that the mission plays on the premise that the Apprentice has killed Darth Vader himself and has become the most trusted fighter of the Emperor, who sends him to Tatooine to take out famed Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi. The episode also features an encounter with the Bounty Hunter Boba Fett and one with Jabba the Hut.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition is set to appear at retail, also in the fall, and will be offering the original game, the two DLC packs that are released for the videogame and a whole new level that can only be played by those who pick up this particular edition of the game.

This is also set in the “Infinities” story line, with the Secret Apprentice being sent to Hoth so that he can face off against Luke Skywalker himself in a final bid to destroy the Rebellion once and for all. Players will be able to explore and battle their way through all the locations seen in Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
