There are more iPad 1 trade-in options than meets the eye, according to NextWorth’s PR who’ve just given us the heads up on a deal offering customers in-store trade-ins of the first-gen iPads to help subsidize the cost.

One of the big U.S. retailers carrying Apple’s iPad 2, Target has partnered with NextWorth, a leader in consumer electronics upgrades and trade-ins, to offer an in-store trade-in option at nearly 900 Target stores nationwide.

An additional 650 new stores are to be added by June NextWorth's PR told Softpedia.

Consumers either receive credit toward a purchase (including the new iPad 2), or a prepaid Target card for the value of the trade-in that can be used for any item sold at Target.

Interested parties can find a participating store nearest to them at www.Target.NextWorth.com.

Current trade-in values on NextWorth for “lightly worn” iPads are:

· iPad WiFi 16GB: $194 · iPad WiFi 32GB: $229 · iPad WiFi 64GB: $257 · iPad WiFi + 3G 16GB: $229 · iPad WiFi + 3G 32GB: $264 · iPad WiFi + 3G 64GB: $303

Using a trade-in value index, NextWorth is also able to determine the current trade-in value as a percentage of the original retail value of a device.

Target and NextWorth believe that Apple products tend to retain value more than other brands, with the iPad making no exception.

Needless to point out, those looking to pick up on this offer will need to purchase their iPad 2 through Target.

Other retailers selling Apple’s iPad 2 include Best Buy, Walmart and others. The device can also be purchased at select Apple authorized resellers.

Fans can also pick one up from the cellular service providers that support the 3G versions in the U.S., those being AT&T and Verizon Wireless.
